Still love this Bruins team!!!!

I knew it would be a tough game…back to back and 1500 miles away.  Looking forward to Thursday’s game…back home against the Panthers!  Bounce back game!!

Bruins-Jets

Going to be a tough one for the B’s tonight, coming off emotional win in Pittsburgh and traveling for back-to-back in Winnepeg.  The Jets are a pretty good, high energy team, as we saw last week.  Hopefully Tuukka will have another great game to keep us in it until we get our legs back.  We will really find out if we are just really good……..or great.  Can’t wait for it to start!!

Friday fodder….

Thank God that McQueary will not be coaching Saturday.  I think you will see a sweeping termination of the entire football program after the Nebraska game…probably Monday.  They may not be able to finish the season if all of this staff knew anything about this situation, and it’s hard to believe that they didn’t.

Bruins are playing the Stanley Cup brand of hockey that they portrayed last Spring.  Tyler Seguin has become physically stronger and it makes all the difference in the world.  Joe Corvo was a great pick-up.  Dennis Seidenberg is an incredibly important part of this Bruins team.  So solid.

Jorge Posada would be a great pickup for a team like the Orioles or Tigers.  He can still hit.  Jason Varitek is more valuable to the Red Sox than he is to any other team.  We could probably bring him back for very short money.  Just a thought.  Maybe bullpen coach as well?  Prince Fielder runs very well for a 600 pound player.  Would Albert Pujols to the Marlins make them a contender in the NL East?  Shouldn’t the Mets trade David Wright and get some players that “fit” in that ballpark?

For the record….Pats beat the Jets Sunday Night and Chad Ochocinco is going to have a good game.  Look for Brady to find Kevin Faulk out of the backfield a few times to slow down the Jets pass rush.  Defensive line is now better without Haynesworth.  There will be more room for the speed guys to get through.  Go Pats.

All things Penn State

Although discussing this whole situation at Penn State makes me want to throw up, I will reluctantly tell you my feelings.

The Board of Trustees at Penn State did the right thing with Joe Paterno and with the University President.  They both needed to go….immediately!  I am puzzled by the fact that the former Graduate Assistant…now Wide Receiver Coach Mike McQueary is being allowed to coach.  My disgust with the whole situation centers on the McQueary angle.   I just don’t understand how any man….any person..can walk in on what he saw and turn around and leave the situation.  He abandoned an 11 year old boy in the most desperate of moments, it seems to protect his job.  I have trouble understanding any reason that McQueery would not do something to stop the abuse.  I also blame everyone who eventually found out about the situation and allowed Jerry Sandusky to exist in the free world to go about his disgusting actions as a predator.  I have a hard time believing that the rest of this staff, including interim head coach Tom Bradley had no knowledge of the actions of Sandusky.   Penn State has one option and one option only.  They must clean house in it’s entirety.  Everyone who is part of this football program needs to go so that the University can begin the healing process.  I believe the University is responsible of sweeping the issue under the rug and will eventually be liable to the families of the 9 victims .  The lawsuits will come and I don’t see how the University can defend the actions of the Football Department, Athletic Department and School Administration.

A clean sweep of everyone involved is the only way out.  When it comes to child molestation, there is no degree of guilt.  No one gets the benefit of the doubt.  If you knew about it, you have a responsibility to disclose to the authorities.

Julien Moves Bear Fruit……..Bruins Explode

Claude Julien made two moves last night to try and spark the Bruins offense.  He moved Chris Kelly up to the first line and dropped Nathan Horton to the third line.  Guess what?  Both players scored goals and the rest of the key offensive players followed suit as the B’s trounced the Maple Leafs 6-2 at the Garden last night.  Tyler Seguin, Zdeno Chara, and Milan Lucic all had a goal and two assists and Andrew Ference pitched in with three assists for the winners.  Tim Thomas was outstanding in the net as the Bruins pulled to within a game of .500 after a rocky offensive start.  They will try to get back to even on the season when they host Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.

Thursday Thoughts…..

I could not watch the World Series game last night!  Boring!  Baseball should be asking the Sox and Cubs to make an announcement to keep everyone’s mind on baseball.

Through two periods, Bruins look better than they have all season, up 3-1 over Maple Leafs.

San Diego has interest in John Lackey?  He will do fine in that huge ballpark.

Qaddafi dead!  How will that affect gas prices?  Rick Perry favors the flat tax/ fair tax idea.  That could get him back in the race.  I’m for that program.

I think Wisconsin might be the best team in the country, especially now that the LSU QB’s are suspended for smoking pot.  South Carolina-Clemson on November 26 is going to be a WAR!!!  Upset alert this weekend……Washington over Stanford!

Someone Should Get Fired at Channel 7 !!

“Unidentified Team Sources”  is cowardly reporting!  Someone at channel 7 needs to either come forward with their sources or get fired with this accusation that Sox players drank beer in the dugout.  I’m guessing that the definitive denials by Sox players as well as their admission to drinking a rally beer in the clubhouse is a pretty strong sign that the report from WHDH is not true.  Let’s see what comes out of this??

Sox Should Stick to Their Guns…..

Make no mistake about it.  The Red Sox are in total control of the Epstien compensation situation with the Cubs.  Theo is still under contract with the Sox.  You can have him……….but you’re gonna pay for him.  If the Sox want Matt Garza or Starling Castro, then you wait it out for them.  The Cubs need Theo Epstien way more than they need those guys.  The Sox are driving this bus.  They can simply keep Theo!  Stick to your guns, Sox.  You can come out of this one better than you went in!

Brady Does it Again!!!

It’s not real fun being a Red Sox fan this month.  But just imagine what it would be like to be a Boston sports fan without Tom Brady and the extremely professional organization that is the New England Patriots.  Brady showed again today that he can take our minds off of the trainwreck that is the Red Sox, if only for a night or two.  With the Pats down by 3 with 2:47 left in the game, the ever-improving defense stopped the Cowboys and got Brady and the offense the ball on their own 20.  A Dallas penalty got them to the 25.  Brady only needed about 50 yards and the Pats could tie the game with a field goal and take their chances in overtime.  However this is Tom Brady’s Patriots.  He had the ball in Cowboy territory by the two minute warning and after spreading passes around to Gronkowski, Hernandez, Welker, and Woodhead, he threw a strike to Hernandez in the back of the endzone to add another great fourth quarter comeback to his historic career.  The most amazing thing about the Pats is that their press conferences are all about the team, all about the other guy getting the job done, all about how much work they need to do to prepare for the next game.  This is so opposite from our local baseball team, where blame is the name of the game!  Thank you again Patriots for an exciting win!
